Tips To Prevent Orange Tones / Brassy Hair

Here are ways to prevent orange hair or brassy hair:

  • Don’t step out in the sun right after bleaching your hair to protect hair from harsh UV rays. Sun makes different shades in your hair to pop out, so stepping out right after a bleaching job when hair is vulnerable makes it more susceptible to orange hair.
  • Wear a swimmer’s cap to protect your hair when you take a dip in the pool. Chlorine and other chemicals from the pool oxidize your hair and leave it yellow and orange tones.
  • Do a final rinse with filtered or drinking water. This step is important, especially if you live in an area with hard water. The minerals tend to deposit in your hair and leave it with orange tones. Rinsing off with filtered water prevents this from happening.
  • Use a water softener if you live in a place with hard water.
  • Don’t color or bleach your hair way too often.
  • Use hair products free from sulfates, silicone and parabens.
